This is Paia town! Approximately
ten to fifteen minutes from the Kahului airport, heading out along the
North coastline. You won't find any condos, hotels or chain
stores here! Paia town is small, funky, charming. It has
upscale little boutiques, coffee houses, great restaurants, and one of
Maui's best health food stores (Mana
Foods). And all of this is within a short walk from Makani
Akau.

Paia Bay beach is also within walking
distance. Fun to boogie board in the winter, it's a lovely,
golden beach.

Baldwin
Beach is just a mile down the road. You can drive (very quick),
ride your bike (use the new bike trail which starts on the opposite
side of Paia town), or walk from Paia Bay beach around the corner onto
Baldwin Beach.

Paia
boasts a variety of fabulous restaurants, including Mama's Fish House
which is Maui's best fish restaurant. Is it expensive? Yes
it is. Is it worth it? Absolutely. This isn't a
restaurant you would go to every night, but be sure to make a
reservation for a special dinner out. Mama's is closer to Hookipa
Beach, and will take a minute or two by car from Makani Akau.
