West Maui is the original vacation area on Maui, and offers a lively environment, with a good range of shops, restaurants, beaches, hotels / resorts, condos, and vacation homes and cottages. Lahaina could be considered the "night life" of Maui, with colorful shops and restaurants along Front Street, a couple of theatre complexes, and many art galleries. Kaanapali has several large hotels and two condos sitting directly on Kaanapali Beach, as well as vacation homes scattered along the hillside. The Kaanapali area north of "Black Rock" has several more properties, with another lovely stretch of beach. Kapalua features the Kapalua Bay Hotel, the Ritz Carlton, and a lovely collection of condos (the exquisite new Coconut Grove, the Bay Villas, Ridge Villas and Golf Villas). Fabulous golf courses! Napili is slightly south of Kapalua, and although the condo properties are older in style, they are considered very desirable for their beachfront setting. |
