Along the green slopes of Haleakala are the small towns of Upcountry Maui. This rural setting is ideal for those that want something different - cattle ranches, fields of flowers, cowboys on horseback and cool mountain slopes. The backdrop to it all - magnificent Haleakala ("House of the Sun"). This 10,023 foot volcano is not extinct, but only dormant, with it¹s last eruption being less than 200 years ago. Much of the land upcountry is ranchland. Cattle, sheep and horses graze the huge tracts of Haleakala, Ulupalakua and Kaupo ranches.
Upcountry is incredibly special!  The properties tend to be much larger with more open space and the views are varied (from mountains to pastures to ocean).   The range of lodging runs from small, simple cottages, to sprawling luxurious estates.   Another great choice might be one of our North Shore Locations.  

Important: Maui County has started to close many private home and cottage vacation rentals.  BUT, there are a small number of hotel and apartment zoned homes, as well as several grandfathered residential properties that will still be available for vacation rental.
