guests: Be very careful sailing on the South Shore (Kihei
area). The wind is side-off-shore and can be very
deceptive. Always sail with a buddy.

S. Kihei Road, Kihei.
Maui Sunset is located towards the north end of Kihei. This
offers
quick access to Mokulele Highway to cross the island to the north
side.
Lahaina will be approximately 30-40 minutes by car, and Wailea only
10-15
minutes by car. Kihei offers a variety of shopping, with several
large grocery stores; Foodland, Safeway (the largest in Hawaii), and
Star
Market. There are plenty of restaurants (including the usual fast
food chains), and small shops catering to tourist needs. |

Beach Quality:
Beach quality in front of Maui Sunset is rated average, and can have
sea
weed or little bits of coral. Many windsurfers enjoy this
property for the launch
site.
Note: beaches in this area can become windy in the afternoon.
The Kamaole beaches of Kihei, or the beaches of
Wailea are within a 5-15 minute drive. |

Property
Description: The
vacation rental resort of Maui
Sunset has two, large, five
story
buildings. They are set on the property in the shape of a letter
V, with the large, open end of the V being the ocean. Sitting in
the arms of the V, is a large swimming pool with hot-tub. The
grounds
are well landscaped, and the lawn areas are well cared for. As
shown
in the photo below, there are two tennis courts sitting between the
buildings
and the ocean. There is plenty of parking, with a large lot on
the
back side of each building.
The
buildings at Maui
Sunset are laid out with
a two bedroom immediately next to the street, followed by one bedroom
units
running forward towards the pool area. Most of the two bedroom
units
start around the pool area, ending with the final unit on the ocean end
of each building being a three bedroom. All units face towards
the
central landscaped area. The units towards the back of the
property
are considered gardenview, and the units towards the front, as well as
those on the higher floors have lovely oceanviews. The three
bedroom
units on the end of each building have fabulous views, and many people
consider these oceanfront. We have applied the term of oceanview,
as there is still a good expanse of lawn between the building and the
ocean.

pool, hot-tub, two
tennis courts, and BBQ areas.
Unit Description and
Amenities: The one
and two bedroom
units have living room/dining/kitchen on the
front
of the unit, opening with sliding doors to a large patio/lanai.
The
bedrooms are tucked to the back of the units, and have only small
windows.
Each one bedroom unit has two full bathrooms. The three bedroom
units
have wraparound lanais, giving them plenty of light and terrific
oceanviews.

| Our
opinion:
We
have many guests that return every year to Maui Sunset. They
enjoy
the large, open lawn areas, the pool (larger than most), and
windsurfers
love the launch site (best on a northerly wind). Although some
units
have been upgraded, there are still a considerable number that could
use
a little decorating assistance. With everything taken into
account,
this is a great value!! |
