Kihei

Paradise for novice through expert! With northeast tradewinds hitting side-on-shore, a long sandy beach, and an easy launch (shorebreak is rare), Kanaha is a perfect location for lessons. Families will enjoy the open grassy areas, showers, restroom facilities, and a roped off swimming zone. Summer is considered slalom season with very flat conditions (by Maui standards). Spring, winter, fall will find waves on the outside reefs, but still plenty of space on the inside for beginners. The waves on the lower reef are long and glassy, gentle yet exciting. The upper reef can be full of surprises, with pitching ramps and steep wave faces, keeping even expert sailors alert. This is an excellent reef to sail in the summer when the swells are wind generated.
