Property Location: Wild Ginger is located in Upcountry Haiku, which sits on the north side of Maui, slightly up the side of Haleakala. Haiku is a small rural village, with a town center (Post Office, gym, bakery, pizza shop, grocery store, doctor, pharmacy, video shop etc). Be sure to stop at the cannery on West Kuiaha, for breakfast at Pauwela Cafe (they also have a fabulous Kalua turkey sandwich for lunch). Haiku offers quick access to Makawao (approx. ten minutes by car), which has a variety of great shops and several good restaurants. Paia is twelve minutes by car.

Beaches: Haiku is considered "Upcountry", and there are no beaches within walking distance. The North Shore beaches of Hookipa, Baldwin, Tavares, and Paia Bay are all a short drive (approximately 12 minutes).
The swimming, snorkeling beaches of Kihei, Wailea and Makena are 30-45 minutes by car.

Property Description: This 40s’ style cottage with its Hawaiiana décor is a real treasure. It is located near the cowboy town of Makawao in the historical Maliko Gulch; when it rains there is a seasonal waterfall right outside your door, with a meandering stream. The screened porch has a comfortable sitting area as well as a dining/game table. The studio cottage has a queen bed, with a settee in front of a beautifully painted entertainment center, which contains a CD/stereo/cassette player, a DVD player and a TV with standard cable. The cottage has WiFi service if you plan on bringing your laptop.

There are wonderful details everywhere – including the shower where you will find a hand sculpted tile mural created by Bob (proprietor). There is a washer and dryer in the unit, a kitchen equipped with just about everything you will need, plus an outdoor gas grill and an outdoor Jacuzzi tub with a hot/cold shower (there is also a tub/shower in the bathroom). Misc. items included: Beach Towels; cooler; blender; hairdryer; DVDs; CDs (mostly Hawaiian); coffee grinder; beans and so much more. A continental breakfast is provide during your stay.

Our opinion: A truly private, peaceful, upcountry property! The setting is difficult to beat!!

Disclosures: Owners live on the property and do not interfer with the enjoyment and privacy of the Wild Ginger Cottage. The waterfall will only be running after a rain in the Upcountry area.
