Important
Update: With only a few exceptions,
vacation rentals in private homes and cottages on the island of Maui are not zoned for vacation
rental. For the past twenty years, the
County has allowed the vacation rental industry to grow and flourish,
with the
understanding that at some point a permit process would be available. Unfortunately that point is now, but rather
than a permit process, the County now feels that most vacation rentals
should
be closed to contribute much needed
housing for the long term market. Please
contact us for alternative options. There are a small number of
rentals that are still legal to rent (grandfathered in the 1980's,
located on hotel or apartment zoned land, have a vacation rental
permit, or are permitted as a B&B). Maui also offers a wide
vareity
of condo style lodging, with units as large as four bedrooms.
