| Property Location:
The Meadow Cottage is located in Upcountry Haiku, which sits on
the
north
side of Maui, slightly up the side of Haleakala. Haiku is a small
rural village, with a town center (Post Office, gym, bakery, pizza
shop,
grocery store, doctor, pharmacy, video shop etc). Haiku offers
quick
access to Makawao (approx. ten minutes by car), which has a variety of
great shops and several good restaurants. Paia is fifteen minutes
by car. |
Beaches: Haiku
is considered "Upcountry", and there are no beaches within walking
distance.
The North Shore beaches of Hookipa, Baldwin, Tavares, and Paia Bay are
all a short drive (usually less than 15 minutes).
The swimming, snorkeling
beaches of
Kihei,
Wailea and Makena are 30-45 minutes by car. |

Property
Description: The Meadow Cottage is a separate
960 square foot cottage with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath (many Maui cottages are
only 700 sf, so this is 30% bigger than most vacation cottages).
Beautiful views of
Haleakala over
the adjacent 80-acre meadow with not a house in sight!
It shares a large three acre property with the Main House which offers
B&B rooms. The Cottage has its own
separate half-acre portion of the property which affords it privacy.
The cottage provides gorgeous sweeping views to the south and east
across the adjacent 80 acre meadow all the way to Koolau Gap and
Haleakala Crater without a house in sight. The Cottage is shielded on
the west by a small
forested valley full of bamboo, mango and kukui trees. Enjoy 3
acres of tropical foliage and jungle. Trees and plants on property
include allspice, avocado, wild coffee, wild peppers, ginger, lychee,
macadmia nut, ti, papaya, guava, figs, cashew, gourd tree, surinam
cherry, java plum, coconut, lilikoi passion fruit, ornamentals and a
half-acre bamboo forest! Explore the
grounds and bamboo forest. Pick your own lilikoi passion fruit,
coconut, breadfruit, avocado, lychee, bananas, guavas and more when in
season. Seven hens lay organic eggs.
The cottage features:

and well equipped kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal,
microwave, stove/oven.
- Lovely mango hardwood floors, and lychee
wood cabinets made from wood milled at the property, and from trees
grown on the property
- Eating nook with mango hardwood benches
- Large living room
- Bathroom with
tub-shower as well as separate outdoor shower.
- iHome docking station for iPod or iPhone.
- Laundry
- Two car garage for parking and storage of
sports equipment
- IMPORTANT NOTE: the owner wanted
this cottage to be a true escape from everyday life. Although it
has internet access, it does NOT have TV, Stereo or telephone.

Our opinion: What a fabulous
setting! It feels like you're in the country, but you're really
just a block or two from the center of Haiku.
PS: The chicken eggs are outstanding!
