| Property Location: Hale Ho'okipa Inn is located in the upcountry area of Makawao. Like its name, "upcountry" has a very "country", rural feel to it. There are green pastures dotted with cows and horses and many of the local ‘Mauians’ tend to live here. Makawao town, is an old “paniolo” or cowboy town that has everything you need but with a small town feeling. Stop at the Makawao Steak House for a good steak, or Casanova's for a great Italian dinner and live music. | Beaches: The North
Shore is a quick ten to fifteen minute drive down the hill (see beaches
shown below). The North Shore beaches are beautiful, but can be windy
in
the summer. Wave season on the North Shore is fall/winter/spring.
These beaches are more "local", and you will definitely not feel like a
"tourist". The swimming beaches of Kihei, Wailea and Makena are located on the South Shore, and will be approximately 30 to 45 minutes by car. |

Description: Hale
Ho'okipa is a gracious plantation home built in 1924 and newly
appointed
to the Hawaii State Historical Register. Having high ceilings,
wooden
floors, and Hawaiian charm, it is invitingly warm, and rich in color,
local
art and antique furnishings. The huge gourmet kitchen may be used
by guests. The common dining area and cozy sitting room are shared.
Each
room has its’ own personality, and is comfortably furnished: Rose Room – queen bed, private bath, sofa, small fridge, cable TV, separate entrance from the lanai. Jasmine room – queen bed, futon sofa bed, private bath, cable TV Hibiscus room – antique brass double bed, private bath, cable TV, separate entrance to the lanai. Kona Wing – two room suite – master bedroom with queen bed, den/bedroom with two futon sofa beds, cable TV/VCR, private bath. This room has direct access to the kitchen. |
